All sale proceeds from ‘The Kendall Custom’ 1967 Mustang GT500 Restomod to go to charity

KISSIMMEE, Florida., January 14, 2021—Kendall Motor Oil, the Official Motor Oil of Mecum Auctions, commissioned a fully custom, street-ready 1967 Shelby-inspired GT500 restomod that will be put up for auction in support of the charity Curing Kids Cancer. Curing Kids Cancer’s mission is to fund innovative research and treatments to find cures for all childhood cancers in our lifetime.

“On average, it takes $25,000 to help a child receive the supplemental funds they need for their cancer treatment. We anticipate the proceeds from the car sale to help multiple kids and their families,” said Curing Kids Cancer Co-founder and President Grainne Owen.

Leading restomod experts in Denver, Colo., Thompson Street Customs, spent two years building ‘The Kendall Custom’ into a machine unlike any other on the road. The vehicle includes exceptional quality parts from bumper to bumper, the latest in modern technology and its engine runs on Kendall GT-1® Max 5W-20 to deliver maximum performance.

“Restomods have become a significant part of the collector world in recent years,” said Director of Corporate Relations for Mecum Auctions John Kraman. “Two important factors that really separate driver quality vs. showstoppers are leading-edge components, along with extreme build quality. The Kendall Custom sets a new bar for a state-of-the-art restomod with the best updates available, along with simply incredible attention to design, detail and craftsmanship. The collector who purchases this restomod will not only have a beautiful vehicle, but they will also be helping kids beat cancer.”

“When Kendall Motor Oil commissioned The Kendall Custom, we sought a vehicle that would demonstrate our ideology that ‘You Get Out What You Put In,’” said Kendall Brand Director Jessica Goodman. “Through our partnership with Mecum Auctions over that last five years, we were introduced to the charity’s leadership and could see the impact Curing Kids Cancer is making for the kids and their doctors who are giving it their all to beat childhood cancer. Donating all sale proceeds is right for this car so that we can join in furthering the work of Curing Kids Cancer.”
